200 years in the future, Shadow the Hedgehog continues to protect the Earth, but he has completely closed himself off from its inhabitants. After watching all of his allies grow old and die while he stayed the same, Shadow vowed never to open his heart to anyone again. He now lives in solitude, away from people unless the world is in danger.

The only friend he has left is OMEGA, whose whereabouts are unknown after Shadow pushed him away in order to close himself off.
